Grand Knight Report July 2022

Brother Knights,
As we begin the new Fraternal Year, let us build on the momentum from last years successes. Our
membership gain was 422% adding 41 new brothers to our council. We also had 31 brothers that
transferred in from other councils. Our fundraising allowed us to donate more than $61,000. We had
more than 3000 hours of service and received multiple awards at the state convention. We made new
friends and touched the hearts of so many in our parish and community. This was all made possible by
your understanding of what it means to be a Knight, your dedication and commitment to help those
who need it most, and the execution of the principals of our order. You should know that thanks to your
efforts, we are one of the top councils in the state and the nation.
Together we will continue our journey to keep doing our good works. To have a positive impact in our
community, to support and build strong families, to raise up our parish, and to help those who count on
us for support.
May God continue to bless our work.
Vivat Jesus,
Ken Gault
Grand Knight

The Knights of Columbus St John Paul II Council 16492 hosted a Golf Tournament in May 2022 for the purpose of helping to build a church at St John Paul II Parish. This fundraiser was very successful and proceeds exceeded the goal we had set last year when the campaign kicked off. Thank you to all the participants, sponsors, council leaders and volunteers. The Knights are committed to help build a church campus here at St John Paul II Parish. We have already scheduled another Golf Tournament to this cause in May 2023.

Essay Contest

Led by our Community Director Joseph Pitisci, our council had 4 participants in the Catholic Citizens Essay Contest.

Essay Question: “In an essay of 500-750 words, describe everyday obstacles that you may have experienced or witnessed others experiencing while living a life of authentic faith. Explain how you have overcome these obstacles and how, by doing so, it has helped your faith to continue to grow.”

Alexander James, Prudence James, Matthew Hardin, and Samantha Ingenito participated.

As one of the judges of these Essays, I read each of them, all 4 of these Essays were Most Excellent! The other judges and I gave TOP Scores to each of these Essays. While none advanced beyond the State, I want to recognize the outstanding work by these fine catholic students and award these Certificates. Congratulations to each of you.

Ultrasound Machine Donation

At the January Business meeting the council voted to donate $15,000 from the Pickleball Proceeds toward the purchase of an ULTRASOUND MACHINE for the new Pregnancy Center called Mayfair Imaging Center.  Notre Dame council 10514 stepped up to donate an additional $3,000 that will cover ½ of the total cost of the machine. Supreme council will match that $18,000 to cover the total cost, and our Council 16492 will be on record as the sponsoring council. At this time, we will present the Check to GK Paul Gloekler, receiving for Mayfair Imaging Center.
