Guardian School Food Distribution

The Knights were asked to help with the food distribution at the Guardian School on Saturday December 3rd.

Our Knights came through once again to help in the community to get food to those who needed our support!

There were about a dozen pallets of assorted food items and it took about 2 hours of distributing all the items to a steady stream of cars.

Thanks very much to all the brothers in our council for your act of kindness and charity!

Council Check Presentations

The Knights of Columbus Council 16492 presented a $1,000 check to Catholic Charities. “Your donation
will go a long way to help our weekend hunger backpack program,” said Tara Provini, Regional Director
of the Catholic Charities Bureau in St. Augustine. The program assures children who qualify for food
assistance at school, have meals during the weekend. Tara accepted the check from Deputy Grand
Knight Pete Falcone as part of the Knights’ Faith In Action programs.

Representatives of Port in the Storm in St. Augustine accept a $2,000 check from Knights of Columbus
Council 16492 Deputy Grand Knight Pete Falcone. Karen Correale, Development/Volunteer Coordinator,
left, and Joy Burton, Marketing/Special Events Coordinator, received the check in November. Port in the
Storm focuses on homelessness. “Your gift can help break the cycle of homelessness of our youth in St.
Johns County,” said Karen Hensel, Assistant Director. “You have helped transform a child’s life.” The
donation is part of the Knights’ Faith In Action programs.

Knights Answered the Call to Service

In preparation for the Bishop’s Mass, the Knights were called to empty the church so the floors could be buff shined. 14 brothers answered the call and the mood was upbeat with some sharing in fellowship. 550 chairs were moved under the portico and hallway in about 25 minutes! The cleaning crew was able to begin their work on time. Thank you to all the Knights that helped. The Holy Spirit calls, the brothers come.

Coats Donated to HUGS

On October 19th, St John Paul II Knights delivered youth size coats to HUGS of St Johns County https://www.stjohnshugs.org/.

Using proceeds from our pickleball fundraiser, we purchased 48 new lightweight jackets for boys and girls of assorted sizes, and donated the jackets to this charitable organization that supports our community’s children.

The program is part of the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids campaign with the mission to provide warmth for children in need during cold winter months. Through the dedication of our council in these early years, hundreds of new winter coats have been distributed to children in our community. HUGS organization personnel were so appreciative of our donation and loved the coats. ” We appreciate your wonderful donation and these coats are perfect for winter in northern Florida.”, said Karen Burke, the clothing coordinator.

Thank you to all the brothers that participated in this effort, from your heart to theirs, by the grace of God.

Presentation of Check to George Gilbert

The Knights of Columbus are committed to providing moral, financial, and spiritual support to our future priests at all stages of their formation. The intent is to keep the faith alive through this support. The Knights of Columbus and the Parish families are also called to provide their “adopted” seminarian with moral support and prayers for their success. Now in our 3rd year of support for George Gilbert we present this check for $1000.

St. Vincent de Paul’s Friends of the Poor Walk/Run

The annual St. Vincent de Paul’s Friends of the Poor Walk/Run is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 kicking off in the SPJII parking lot. This is a terrific opportunity to volunteer and personally participate and donate to the SPJII Conference which raises money to help people in our surrounding communities.

SVdP aids those who are struggling to make ends meet in this very difficult time when everything from food to rent is skyrocketing. You can help by volunteering, signing up to walk/run, helping at our information table or making a personal contribution.

Now in its 15th year, the Walk/Run is an annual event. Last September, we had a wonderful outpouring by fellow Knights of commitment, friendship and fellowship.
